I recently took on Pager Duty at work,
this was something that was coming down the line, much like a
train, you see it coming but you just can't get off the track.
It's kinda a pain in the ass, already and I'm 2 days in.
when on pager I can't leave town, unless I get my shift covered,
I'm gonna work on that tomorrow.
It hasn't gone off yet, but I've just realised that the first
weekend in Feb (my next pager weekend) is also the only weekend
this year I had available to go snowboarding, the same weekend
I've plonked down $120 nonrefundable deposit on the snow lodge
with my buddies, and as of yesterday, it's the same weekend that
I'm expected to be present in Sac-town to celebrate Christinas
Grandmas 85th Birthday. oh and sunday's superbowl sunday, I enjoy
Superbowl sunday, It's a fun day to hang with co-workers, so at
worst If I have to stay in town I can catch that. |

So I haven't been as into video games as
I used to be, but the past month and a half have seen me jump right
back in, here's what I've been playing:
Wii games:
Wii Sports, what can I say, now that pack-in games essentially
don't exist any more it's not up against much competition, but
even stacked against the old-school pack-in games, mario/duck hunt,
sonic, turtles, super mario world/all stars Wii sports does more
than stand up to the competition, it decimates it. The only other
pack in game that I think has done as much for a cosnole is
Mario/duck hunt.
Rayman; Raving Rabbids, this game is pretty awesome, although I
don't think it's as amazing as wii sports, and i don't feel that
the replay value is as high as I'd normally like (I tend to demand
a lot of replay value from my game choices) still, for a launch
title it's pretty damn awesome.
Zelda; Twilight Princess, I'm almost ashamed to say I've barely
played it, I'm gonna hold commentary until I actually play it some
more.
Excite truck; rented it, then picked it up used, it's pretty fun,
although the lack of 4 player is a serious oversight.
Super Monkey Ball Banan blitz; I was sorely disappointed, as were a
lot of people, it feels like they put 50 unfinished minigames on
the disc, instead of polishing the best ones.
DS Games
New super Mario Brothers: This one's pretty rad, especially the
multiplayer stuff, a must have if you're a DS owner.
Wario Ware Touched, I'm a big fan of wario ware, in all its
iterations, so this is a no brainer for me.
PSP games
Lumines II ; Just started this today, and I'm pretty pleased,
it's essentially identical to the original, with new puzzles in
puzzle mode and no changes to gameplay at all, it's the perfect
sequel to an awesome puzzle game.
WTF; a Wario Ware Wannabe for PSP, playable, but not one I'll be
coming back to.
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X: more mega man goodness, If you're a
fan of the franchise (like me) you won't go far wrong with this
one.
LocoRoco; This is probably the wierdest game I've played in a
while, it's pretty fun too, I haven't played it for long, but
it's been pretty enjoyable so far.
GitarooMan Lives; I had the opportunity to play the original
gitarooman on the playstation, it was surreal to say the least, and
Gitarooman Lives seems to be either a direct port or pretty close
to it, I've only played the first level, but it's pretty damn
good, and plays well on the psp.
and that pretty much wraps up my recent games splurges, I ordered a
DS-Extreme, so I'll be seeing how DS homebrew works out when that
arrives.
I hope everyone had an awesome new year, We did. |

So I'm thinking about upgrading my
cellphone and getting a new service contract and thought some of
you might have some suggestions, here's what I need from it:
~Bluetooth capability to sync info with my mac.
~High speed connectivity for when I'm out an dabout and can't hop
on an open wifi network
~ability to use the phone as a bluetooth dial-up modem, this is
important, I need to be able to dial in to a specific network, so
this needs to be there in addition to the high speed network
capability.
~Ideally it'll be a music player as well, this isn't a
dealbreaker, but it'd be nice, currently my Sony k750i plays music
and has removable storage in the form of a memory stick pro duo.
~If it plays music it has to have removable storage, but most do
nowadays anyway.
so, any suggestions are welcome.
and I hope all of you are having a kickass christmas. |
